Yoga in the Classroom
bringing mindfulness and movement to the classroom
Classes are specifically created for the unique needs of the students and staff. The breathing exercises and sensory activities are helpful tools that assist the children with self-regulation and can be implemented at any time. Teachers and support staff are encouraged to participate and assist to gain insight on how to assist children with using yoga and mindfulness throughout the day. Classes typically run 15-20 minutes at least twice a week and are a welcome activity break for both students and teachers. The yoga sessions follow a basic format and are adapted to meet the needs of students in the classroom, using their chairs and desks as support, so children of all abilities can participate.
